HSI Congratulates Money Atwal on Award Recognition
Scott Generazo, Health Systems informatics (HSI) Senior Vice President of Client Services, and Money Atwal, Regional Chief Financial Officer & Regional Chief Information Officer of Hawaii Health Systems Corporation (HHSC), East Hawaii Region, Hilo Medical Center, celebrate Money’s award as a CIO winner at the 2014 CIO 100 Symposium and Awards Ceremony, Aug. 17-19, in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. The Management Team of HSI has had a long-term relationship with Money Atwal and we were there to celebrate his award!
The companies selected for this year’s CIO 100 had to demonstrate not only that they were able to create new value using iT and to execute their project well, but also that they did so in uncommon, innovative ways: pioneering a new technology, applying a familiar technology to a new purpose, setting the bar higher for their competitors.
Mr. Atwal led a large-scale initiative and achieved replacing manual, paper-based systems with an Electronic Health Record system at a rural hospital and two critical-access hospitals. The electronic records are accessible to authorized clinicians anywhere on the island. Results of the initiative include improved patient safety and care, better access to patient records by clinicians, improved financial control and improved physician and employee satisfaction. HHSC has also been awarded the Stage 7 HIMSS Analytics designation.
