HSi Appoints Healthcare System Executive to Advisory Board

Long-time President and CEO to bring expert guidance to ensure continued impact on healthcare organizations, achieving the highest standard of patient care, staff satisfaction and financial outcomes.

Bainbridge Island, WA, March 27, 2018—Health Systems informatics (HSi), a healthcare consulting and solutions firm, announced today that Norman Gruber, President and CEO of Salem Health, has joined its 2018 Advisory Board.

The Board is comprised of members with extensive industry knowledge in healthcare administration, medicine and large-scale health IT initiatives.  Now in its fourth year, the Board provides objective council on strategic business direction, how to address opportunities and challenges, and company alignment with industry trends.

The 2018 members of HSi’s Advisory Board include:

Dr. William Bria II, MDChairman of the Board of Association of Medical Directors of Information Systems (AMDIS) and CMIO of visualDX

Dr. Bria is a renowned leader in medical informatics having been on both the operational and strategic side of healthcare IT during his career.  He directed the medical informatics plan for an IBM partner actively engaged with the development of the latest technologies applied to patient care, and also directed the medical informatics plan for a 22 hospital system spanning across the United States, Canada and Mexico.  Dr. Bria spent several years handling the strategic planning, selection, design, management and implementation of large-scale clinical information systems, as well as sharing his knowledge though professorships and positions on a variety of advisory councils and boards both domestically and abroad.

Norman F. GruberFormer President and CEO at Salem Health

Over the last 14 years, Mr. Gruber has overseen the management of operational, clinical, strategic and financial functions of the health system, including two hospitals and a 110-provider medical group. He also established Lean as a management practice which has been an integral tool in changing the corporate culture. Prior to Salem Health, Mr. Gruber was the President and CEO at Palomar Pomerado Health in San Diego, CA.  During his leadership, he led the largest district health system in California, covering 800 square miles, served by 3,500 employees and netting $275 million in annual revenues.  Between 1974 and 1999, he held executive positions at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Queen of Angels—Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, and Pleasant Valley Health.
